SUSTAINABILITY BY RAMSON PACKAGING

Better choices,built into the pack.

Less material. Simpler components. More recycled content. Refill where it makes sense.

There is no single “sustainable” material. We help brands define a measurable target and build the bottle, pump, closure and decoration around it.

Less material.Lightweighting and refill formats can reduce the material used for the selected pack.
Simpler material structure.Mono-material routes can reduce polymer complexity. All-plastic options remove metal where relevant.
Recycled content.PCR options are available across selected PET, PE, PP and dispensing formats.

START WITH THE TARGET

Start with a measurable target.

Set a clear priority: reduce the bottle weight, introduce recycled content or develop a refill. We help compare the options and what each means for the finished pack.

01

Define the target.

Less material, a specific PCR percentage, one polymer family, a refill model or a lighter pack. Make the objective measurable.

02

Build the complete pack.

Bottle, pump, closure, label and decoration should be considered together. Improving one component does not automatically improve the complete pack.

03

Validate the application.

Formula compatibility, filling, dispensing, appearance, performance and the intended market all shape the final specification.

PRACTICAL ROUTES

Three practical routes.

Choose the approach that fits your product. Some packs can combine all three.

ONEMATERIAL

Simplify the material structure.

Selected PP pumps use polypropylene throughout, including the spring. PE mono-material airless options are also available.

Keep more of the pack.

Keep a durable outer pack in use with a matching refill, or explore our lighter smartREFILL bottle. We help compare both routes around your product and refill model.

Material, colour, finish and decoration should be assessed as part of the complete pack.

THE COMPLETE PACK

The complete pack matters.

The bottle, dispenser, label and decoration all affect the result. A material improvement in one component needs to work with the rest.

We review how the components fit, perform and can be sorted together before settling the specification.

  • Coordinate bottle, pump and closure
  • Review colour and decoration alongside material
  • Balance performance, appearance and material targets

MATERIAL LANGUAGE

Know your materials.

PCR, mono-material and recyclable mean different things. Open each term for a quick explanation.

PCR

Post-consumer recycled material is incorporated into the selected component at an agreed percentage.

Keep in mind: This does not mean that the complete pack is made from PCR or recyclable in every market.

Discuss PCR options with our team →

Mono-material

A selected component or system is designed around one main polymer such as PP or PE.

Keep in mind: This does not mean that every decoration, label or adjacent component uses the same polymer.

All-plastic

The selected component contains no metal parts.

Keep in mind: This does not mean that it is mono-material. Several plastics may still be used.

Refillable

A retained component is designed to be used again with a replacement refill.

Keep in mind: This does not mean that material savings are identical for every user or refill cycle.

Recyclable

A material or pack may be technically compatible with a recycling route.

Keep in mind: This does not mean that it will be collected, sorted and recycled in every country or municipality.

Recyclability depends on the finished pack and the collection and recycling systems in its intended market.

GOOD QUESTIONS, BEFORE YOU START

Does Ramson offer PCR packaging?

Yes. PCR options are available across selected PET, PE, PP and dispensing products. The available percentage depends on the exact item, colour, performance and application.

Is mono-material always better than a mixed-material pack?

Not automatically. Mono-material design can simplify material composition, but performance, product protection, collection and actual recycling routes still matter. The complete pack should be assessed for the intended market.

Can decoration affect recyclability?

Yes. Labels, coatings, inks, metallisation and other decoration can influence sorting or recycling compatibility. The effect depends on the material and local recycling route.

Which refill option should we choose?

That depends on the formula, filling operation, retained outer pack, expected repeat use and brand experience. Ramson works with refillable airless, jars, deodorant sticks and roll-ons, as well as the flexible smartREFILL bottle.

Availability, recycled content and performance vary by product and application. Final specifications and recycling guidance are confirmed for the selected complete pack and intended market.
